BAYFIELD WISCONSIN ANNIVERSARY TRIP | CELEBRATING 3 YEARS ON FILM!

Sometimes it's just funny how the calendar works itself out. We had the weekend off for our very first wedding anniversary and we celebrated in Door County with a surprisingly delicious layer of cake ;) Last year our 2nd anniversary fell mid-week, and (oddly enough) the weekend before AND the weekend after, we photographed awesome weddings at our very own reception venue, The Great Hall on ARTSblock! What a perfect way to celebrate with a little walk down memory lane! This year it worked out that we also had our anniversary weekend off, so we packed our bags & puppy Parker and headed up to Bayfield to do one of our very favorite things: escape into the Northwoods of WI! We were so excited that Parker got to come and had the perfect fall weekend to enjoy as a little McCartney family!! From apple picking and pottery hunting to finding Bayfield's cutest coffee shop and exploring the adorable hippie town of Cornucopia, we lived large, slowed down, and enjoyed every ounce of it :) Here's a little peek at our ridiculous smiling faces as we celebrate three years of fun, belly-aching laughter, and so much love!! WHY FILM?

When you ask us about film, you’ll see our eyes grow by three sizes before we start to gush about it! Wefell in love with film all over again while photographing a Saint Paul wedding in November of 2009.

The look and feel of photographs we create using film is the perfect pairing with the images we capture and stories we tell on a wedding day. And we want the best possible work that we can produce for our couples. Film photographs are timeless and romantic. We fall in love looking at wedding images of our parents & grandparents. Their pictures have stood the test of time. That’s the type of family heirloom & investment we want to create for our couples.

What it came down to for us is absolutely loving what we’re doing. Loving the process. We wanted the medium which we capture your once-in-a-lifetime moments on to be equally as special.

Photographing with film causes us to slow down and truly be present. We are more discerning and intentional with every single image we create. As a result, we are completely connected and in the moment with you. This makes us feel and experience the artistry behind photography — something that is so easily overlooked with how easy it is to take thousands of digital images. Just like a quality piece of handmade furniture, or the perfect piece of pottery, we have fallen in love with the process and it has become a major part of who we are as artists.

The best part? Our clients fall in love with the warmth & soft romantic feeling of their images. You can expect a mix of both film & digital photography on your wedding day. We haven’t eliminated our digital cameras from our camera bag and use them the most when your dance floor is out of control and we want to show you as many smiling faces as we can!

What does this mix between film & digital photography mean for our couples & clients? It means that you are investing in more than just two full-time photographers. We know that we are right where we are supposed to be. Creating a beautiful piece of art on someone’s wedding day that they will love as much as we loved creating it. For us, that’s one of the best feelings on Earth.

INTIMATE WAUSAU WEDDING | CHERYL & STEVE

We love everything about the way Steve & Cheryl chose to celebrate their wedding day: with about 25 of their very closest friends & family members! We met at their house and the four of us slowed down together as Cheryl & Steve finished getting ready. Cheryl was absolutely stunning in a classic dress with a beautiful bouquet done by the always amazing Evolutions in Design!! Together, her & Steve were absolutely glowing and we are so honored to have photographed their intimate wedding day! In the world of weddings it is easy to get caught up in the glitz of throwing a party, but these two focused on what really matters: love & each other. For Cheryl & Steve, it was truly about uniting two families and creating a life they love together :)

WISCONSIN WAFFLE WEDDING | EDITORIAL SHOOT WITH A.STYLED EVENT & EVOLUTIONS IN DESIGN

With permanent smiles written across our faces, last week we posted a little preview of our excitement over a sweetly styled shoot with Anna of A.Styled Event. The inspiration behind this intimate brunch wedding came about earlier this year as Anna & I chatted through our computers on a snowy morning, surely in our pajamas and with coffee in hand. Apparently we were hungry and ready for wedding season to begin, as we were dreaming of sweet details and hints of maple syrup! ;) After months of sharing ideas back & forth like giddy schoolgirls, our inspiration shoot came to with help from an incredible team of WI wedding pros! Taylor Rae created the most perfect place cards, menus and calligraphy for the invitations, which were designed by Anna's husband Paul! Randy of Evolutions in Design completely blew us away with a truly stunning floral centerpiece, bouquet & bout. Jaxie shared her sweet talent, as our bride wore a custom designed birdcage veil and hair piece. Anna brought this shoot to life and created more elements than we can possibly begin to describe -- a bunting cake topper & handmade polka dotted napkins, oversized pillows, gold touches & more!!!

So, here you have it. A beautiful field setting. The perfect mix of cozy and lovely. A casual and romantic yet inviting picnic style celebration. Hints of fresh fruit & sweet treats. An adorable bride & groom. We hope that brides are able to find a bit of inspiration from the details and ideas that Anna poured into our brunch wedding! A huge thank you to all of the incredible vendors & friends who brought this shoot to life!! We had a absolute blast photographing every piece of it.  For us, the icing on the cake was having our waffle wedding featured the lovely Southern Weddings Blog!
